What are these files?
They're practice files for the songs in our current season, with one voice part played louder than the others so you can learn your part. Like hearing music from a computer piano, they'll help you learn the songs' notes, but not the words.
Which ones do I need?
You only need the ones for your voice part.
What do the "a" and "b" mean with the voice parts?
When there are split notes for your voice part, if your section leader has asked you to sing the higher of the two notes, you are an "a". If, however, your section leader has asked you to sing the lower of the two split notes, you are a "b".
How do I save them on my computer?
With the cursor (arrow) over the file you want, click the right mouse button and select "Save As", "Save Link As", or "Save Target As". You will then be asked where to save the file. If you see something called "My Documents", that's usually easy to find again later. Write down where you saved the files, so you don't forget while you go look for a CD (now would be a good time to do that).
How do I save them on a CD?
First, save the files on your computer. There are lots of programs you can use for making a music CD. I'll tell you about BurnAware Free Edition because it's easy to explain and use.
  1. If you haven't already downloaded the program, Download BurnAware.
  2. If you haven't already installed the program, double-click the file you just downloaded to install it.
  3. Put a blank CD in the computer's CD Drive with the shiniest side down.
  4. Run BurnAware by double-clicking the icon it puts on your computer's desktop.
  5. Click "Create Audio CD".
  6. Click the "Add Files" button.
  7. Go to the location you wrote down earlier (you did write it down, didn't you?), and select the songs you downloaded.
  8. Repeat the previous two steps until all your songs are listed in the BurnAware window.
  9. Click the round red button in the upper right corner to write the songs on the CD. It's normal to hear a whirring sound while this part is happening.
  10. When the program tells you that it's done writing the CD, you can exit the program and remove your new music CD from the drive.
